Revival Yarns Teacher Profiles
Meredith taught herself to knit while studying Fabric Design at the University of Georgia. She has been teaching knitting in the Athens area for over six years now, and has been commissioned for custom and reproduction knitting. Some of her work has even been used for film. Meredith was born in Athens, GA and has lived in the area for most of her life aside from two years spent in Nashville, TN. She has a double BFA in Jewelry & Metalwork and Fabric Design from the University of Georgia.
Carole Holmes began crocheting when she was ten years old to help her grandmother make a granny square afghan. She knit dust mitts as Christmas gifts that year. She has been knitting and crocheting ever since. She has lived in the Boulevard neighborhood for over thirty years and taught kindergarten and first grade for almost 40 years. After she retired, she discovered the joys of knitting with others in the Boulevard knitting group. She is now focused on improving her skills, trying out new techniques and sharing her love of yarn with others.
Denise (Ravelry ID: desna01) started knitting in 2010 and immediately became obsessed. She loves jewel-toned yarns, natural fibers, casting-on new projects (some of which don’t get past row 12 before the next project is cast-on), and teaching others how to knit. She loves that there is a project for any mood or skill level; she can challenge herself with complicated lace, but also keep an easy project in her purse for mindless knitting. She has two daughters who sometimes agree to wear the projects their mamma made for them.
Julia is currently pursuing both a doctoral degree in clinical psychology at UGA and her PhD (Projects Half Done) at Revival Yarns. It was Julia’s mother who taught her how to knit during one very cold New England winter almost 10 years ago. Since then, Julia has knit everything from toy unicorns to a summer dress. One of her favorite projects is the dog-o-saur sweater she knit for her 10-lb dog, Harper. Julia is one of Revival Yarns’ two shop helpers.
Linn is originally from Norway, where she learned to knit at an early age. She loves to customize and improvise patterns. Linn is one of Revival Yarns’ two shop helpers.
