Revival Yarns Seasonal Classes

Bunny KAL – Three session Knit-A-Long (March 14, 21, & 28, 2-3pm)

Have this sweet bunny knit up in time for Easter! Join us for an adorable 3-session Saturday afternoon Knit-A-Long.

Materials needed:
– US 6 straight needles
– Three balls Ewe Ewe Wooly Worsted yarn (1 for body, 2 for outfit)
– Bunny Girl in a Dotty Dress pattern (for sale at Revival Yarns)
– Tapestry needle for finishing

Experience required: This is appropriate for patient advanced-beginners and intermediate knitters due to the amount of seaming. All pieces are knit flat and seamed together at the end. There is also colorwork in the dress portion, but you can be as fancy or as simple as you are comfortable. Must be able to cast-on, knit, purl, bind-off, increase and decrease.


Market Bag – Two 1 hr sessions (May 8 & 15, 10:30-11:30), $30

This stretchy cotton bag is perfect for trips to the farmers market or grocery store!
Materials Needed:
– Needles 24″ US 9 circular needle and US 9 DPNs
– Tapestry needle
– Two skeins of Cascade Luna Cotton

Experience Required: Cast-on, Knit, Bind-Off, Knitting in the Round, Yarn Over, Knit-2-Tog


Fingerless Mitts – Two 1 hr sessions (Mar. 5 & 12, 6-7pm OR Apr. 1 & 8, 6-7pm), $30

Learn to knit these sweet fingerless gloves. A great project for yourself as well as a great gift!

Materials needed:
– DK or worsted weight yarn
– US 5 double pointed needles, or 32″-40″ circular
– If you would like to get started on the cuff prior to class we can email you the pattern ahead of time.

Experience required: cast-on, knit, purl, bind-off, knitting in the round

Crochet a Hat – $15, 1 hr (May 8th, 5-6pm)

In our crochet hat class we’ll go over the basics of making crochet hats. We’ll start with the most basic crochet hat and techniques (magic loop!) to get the big picture, and then delve into some more advanced techniques like cabling, crocheting amigurumi vs. closed rounds, and sizing. As always, we’ll focus on teaching using standard terms and notation so you can make that pattern you’ve had your eye on!

Materials needed:
-One skein of worsted weight yarn
-Crochet hook between sizes F and J

Experience required: Basic crochet chain, single and double crochet stitches

Limit: 5 people

Gauge! – $30, 1 hr (March 18th 6-7pm)

It’s so important and yet can be so intimidating. Learn why gauge is important and how to adjust your gauge before starting a pattern.

Materials needed:
– Materials are included in this class

Experience required: Cast-on, Knit, Purl

Limit: 5 people

Brioche – $ 30, 2 hrs (March 24th or April 25th from 10:30 – 12:30)

Learn how to knit in 2-color brioche! This stitch allows you to create an ultra cushy, 2-color, reversible fabric. We will learn the basics using Stephen West’s pattern Bundled in Brioche.

Materials needed:
– ~1080 yds (or less for a shorter scarf) in 2 and up to 9 colors worsted weight yarn
– US 8 24″ Circular needle.

Experience required: Brioche is an intermediate stitch. Cast-on, Knit, Purl, bind-off.

Limit: 8 People

Knitting Forward, Backwards, and Sideways – $30, 2 hrs (May 2nd 10:30-12:30)

Students will learn how to knit asymmetrically and on the bias (including mitred squares) knit and purl backward (imagine never having to turn your flat knitting again!), pick up selvage stitches without leaving gaping holes and knit sideways off of an existing fabric, and knit in circles by conquering the art of short rows.

Homework: Please bring one 4” x 4” swatch knit in stocking stitch in the yarn/needle size of your choice. We will be working off of this swatch for some of the exercises

Materials needed:  3 solid colors of yarn (anything smooth, non-splitting, and non-fuzzy—weight is not a concern–at least 50 yards each); one pair of 10” straight needles in whatever size was used to knit your swatch; scissors.  During this class we will be working off of the homework swatch, as well as knitting independent swatches.

Experience required: Must be comfortable with cast-on, knit, and purl

Saki Toes – $30, 2 hrs (April 11th 10:30-12:30)

A fitted slipper to keep your feet warm… knit in one piece, with no seaming.  A great base pattern that is easy to embellish!

Materials needed:

-Saki Slippers Pattern ($6, available at Revival Yarns)
– 170 yds worsted weight yarn
-US 6 36-40″ circular for magic loop or dpns * or needle size required to get gauge (11 sts and 12 rows = 2 inches)

Experience required: This is an intermediate class. Cast-on, Knit, Purl, bind off. Must be comfortable knitting in the round or magic loop.

Limit: 8 people

Reversible Cables – $30, 2 hrs (April 11th 2-4pm)

Knit cables that look great from every angle! We’ll be learning to knit two reversible cable scarf patterns!

Homework: You are going to need a larger needle than you think. Please swatch to 4 stitches to the inch to get needle size.

Materials needed:
– For a completed scarf ~660 yds worsted weight yarn
-Needle size to obtain gauge (4 sts per inch)
-Cable needle

Experience required: This is an intermediate class. Cast-on, Knit, Purl, bind off. Must be comfortable knitting in the round or magic loop.

Limit: 8 people

Two at a time SOCKS – $45, 3 hrs (April 21st 10:30-1:30)

 Using the Magic Loop method, students will learn to knit a pair of socks on a single circular needle with any pattern and any yarn. We’ll also discuss a variety of heel options, including garter stitch heels, v-heels, dutch heels, and short-row heels, as well as round, star, and classic toes. Finally, we’ll learn a fabulous method for eliminating holes in your socks when you pick up for those gusset stitches. In no time, you’ll be knitting like the pros!

Homework: none

Materials needed: One or two solid, preferably light- or bright-colored fingering weight yarn (anything smooth, non-splitting, non-acrylic, and non-fuzzy—at least 200 yards divided into 2 separate balls); one pair of US 3 circular needles (42 or 47-inch cable required); one locking stitch marker; scissors.  During this class we will be knitting a child-size pair of socks.

Experience required: Students must already know how to knit in the round, graft with kitchener stitch (we’ll do a quick refresher), and cas on using a long-tail method to be successful in this course.
